HELLO WORLD !!!

Illustrated by Phoebe Wahl

Feminism is important for all of us and although this blog is specifically for teenage girls, it doesn't mean that the issues we face aren't affecting others. Regardless of your age or sex we are all victims of a sexist society.

'Sexism is happening all around us, all the time. From women who have lost their jobs for becoming pregnant, transsexuals who are regularly assaulted, men who have been derided for seeking paternity leave, employees who are being constantly harassed at work, to women of all ages who have simply become accustomed to the never-ending recital of sexist comments, jokes, touching, groping, stroking, slapping and wolf-whistling that is the wallpaper to their daily existence.'

The longer we choose to live a domain of oblivion, the worse it gets for us all. Through feminism we are challenging the very foundations we have been brought up on, questioning every concept we have been taught.

Which is why Bea and I have decided to get this blog up and running. We are young, we are learning and want to feel like we are actually doing  something. To be honest, this was an incredibly spontaneous idea and we have no idea where to go from here; but then again, we're fifteen and have no idea where to go from where we are in the real world either. Many people our age (and older) haven't the slightest idea about what feminism is, the 'fat-hairy-lesbians-who-hate-men-and-are-basically-angry-at-everything' face of feminism is all they know - which isn't very much at all. But we are at the peak of our teen angst, floating in our very own hormonal wonderland. All you need is a little bit of faith, trust and activation dust to spark your revolution, so here it is - at http://teengrrrrl.blogspot.com
